For the past three years, Fiserv has published its annual "Investment Services Perspective" on anticipated market trends for the upcoming year. Over the course of those years, we have experienced a complete economic cycle. In our first edition published in late 2007, we were in a bull market and, by the end of 2008, we entered into one of the worst bear markets in history. As we enter 2010, we believe that a tepid recovery is underway, but in a marketplace that looks a lot different now than it did before the market collapse that started in September 2008.

As we have done in the past, before we sat down and outlined some key trends for the new year, we took a moment to review what we anticipated for the previous year. We are pleased, especially given the uncertainty in the 2009 market, that our 2009 anticipated trends were largely correct and would serve us well as we did our analysis to determine our overall product and market strategies.

In the following pages, you will find an overview of last year’s Investment Services Perspective and the trends we anticipate in 2010 and beyond.
